[He'd always known, on some level, that one day it'd be like this. That he would go from being someone who helped the people so few others could see to being one of the people he'd spent his life helping, trapped in-between the physical and spiritual planes in a different way than he used to be.

Ryan's known it would happen. That doesn't make dealing with it any easier.

Walking through walls was interesting, at first-- walking through people was an unwelcome reminder of just how alone he was going to be. Not that the ghosts he knew were poor company, exactly, but there was something about that separation from the living that just made him feel that much more invisible every time someone failed to see that he was there.

But at least some people still could, or maybe just one person. Maybe it was a skill of theirs, or maybe they'd had some sort of connection in life that Ryan's death didn't quite break. Whatever the case, though, that was the last tie he had left to the living world, and there was no way he'd let it go easily.]
